Broome Primary School Fire Remediation & New Administration Building

Broome Primary School suffered the loss of a teaching building and damage to the administration building, due to a fire in January 2020. The building contained a staffroom, four classrooms, two storerooms, an office, and a medical room, while the covered link to the administration building was also destroyed. Engawa Architects was engaged to facilitate the design, documentation and contract administration of the rebuilt of all lost amenities, while aesthetically paying homage to the town surrounds. This was achieved through diagrammatic studies of the functional needs of the school, a careful selection of the materiality and a local awareness of the environmental impact of the design.
