Sacred Heart Church

Sacred Heart Church is an historically significant church listed on the State and the National Register. In more recent history the church featured in the movie, Bran Nue Dae. We have been involved with the church since assisting with the belltower that fell down after Cyclone Rosita in 2000. The church is a great example of a building with low embodied energy; with the use of lime silica bricks fired on the site from local materials and decorated extensively from local pearl, abalone shell and other local items. This church is living history with a recent renovation incorporating some animal totems, with State Heritage approval, previously not represented in the carved pearl artwork throughout the church.
